2022
On February 4, Rockstar confirmed that active development of the next Grand Theft Auto entry was underway.
2023
On November 8, Rockstar announced that the first trailer would arrive in early December. Trailer 1 was officially published on December 4 after an unauthorized copy appeared early, naming the game and giving a 2025 release window.
2024
On May 16, Take-Two narrowed the expected launch window to fall 2025 in its financial reporting.
2025
Rockstar moved the release to May 26, 2026 on May 2; released Trailer 2 on May 6; and published expanded character, place, screenshot, and artwork material on May 7. On November 6, the release moved to November 19, 2026 for additional polishing.
2026
Pre-orders opened globally on June 25. Rockstar published An Extended Look on August 27. November 12 is the announced preload start and physical-code-box availability date, ahead of the currently scheduled November 19 launch.
